GGC CAPTAIN'S CHARITY DAY - THURSDAY 23 MAY 2019
2019 will mark the fifth Captain’s Charity Day at Gullane Golf Club. The four previous ones have been outstanding successes – enjoyed hugely by the players, with very significant sums raised for the chosen charities.
Enter a team of 4 - Men, Ladies or Mixed - the format is either a morning or afternoon shotgun stableford competition. AM competitors will be served breakfast rolls and a two course lunch, PM competitors will be served a two course lunch and sandwiches later in the afternoon. Fabulous prizes to be won on and off the course!
All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Captain's two chosen charities which are East Lothian Special Needs Playscheme and Parkinson's UK.
EAST LOTHIAN SPECIAL NEEDS PLAYSCHEME
For many of the children who attend them, the playschemes are the highlight of their year as they offer social, recreational and educational opportunities in a safe environment.
As well as the obvious benefits the playscheme brings to the children there is also the difference it makes to their families, many of whom find it difficult to cope with a child with special needs 24 hours a day during the school holidays.
Playscheme is often the only opportunity for children and young people with special needs to socialise with others during the long holidays and all donations help provide one to one support, reliable transport to and from home, and fun, safe and exciting activities for the children amongst their friends.
Many of you will know someone who has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s and its impact upon them and their family. Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition for which there are treatments, therapies and support, and donations to Parkinson’s UK will support researchers to develop new and better treatments and, hopefully, one day a cure.
