Coronavirus - GGC Competitions update

Good morning,

Following on from the UK Government's announcement last night, we have closed the courses at Gullane. As you know, we did what we could to keep the courses open for social and competitive golf and the guidance available then was that allowing people to exercise by playing golf was the right thing to do with the requisite precautions in place. However, for the safety of our Members, staff, guests and the wider community we clearly can no longer do so.

Inevitably this 'lockdown' will have significant consequences on GGC competitions;

- all GGC Medals up to the end of April have been cancelled including the Spring Meeting. We expect this will be extended but will await developments before cancelling more competitions.

- the Gray Trophy and RAF Trophy (Seniors) will not take place in 2020.

- the Hanky Panky will also be cancelled (for those who have played their first tie and paid the £8 entry fee, please advise the Club and we will refund you).

- Given they are in their advanced stages (semi-final and finals respectively) the Winter Foursomes, Winter Plate and Strain Quaich Senior Winter Foursomes will be allowed to conclude once golf resumes.

These are unprecedented times for every one of us, we appreciate and thank you for your continuing support and co-operation and we look forward to normality and golf resuming in the future. Meantime, please stay safe, stay healthy and stay away from the courses for now.

Regards

Stuart Bendoris, Golf Services Manager
